While out hunting, Actaeon accidentally happens upon the secret bathing place of Diana, chaste goddess of the hunt. Titian explores the dramatic impact of his intrusion through a dynamic arrangement of figures, sparkling light, intense colour and animated brushwork.

Actaeon's fate is foretold by the stag's skull on the plinth and the skins of Diana's former prey hanging above her head. The conclusion of the story is shown in the National Gallery's painting The Death of Actaeon. The outraged goddess immediately avenges herself by transforming Actaeon into a stag to be devoured by his own hounds.

These pictures are part of a series of famous mythological paintings by Titian. They were painted for King Philip II of Spain when the artist was at the height of his powers. The subjects were based on the Roman poet Ovid'sMetamorphoses – Titian himself referred to them as 'poesie' (poems).

After researching and looking into Metamorphosis,i was intrigued into voyeurism.

MARK WALLINGER.Relating his work to Titian.As in the Diana and Actaeon story,Acaeon watches Diana as she bathes.

As i looked on,I realised voyeurism wasn't my main focus.I was very interested in the movement part of metamorphoses and the body form and shapes after looking at the sculptures created by Antony Gormley

Which involved Mark Wallinger,Chris Ofili,Conrad Shawcross-

He designs and builds machines with the intention of exploring the laws of science, and demonstrating the abstract nature of scientific thought in a practical manifestation. Shawcross gets help from scientists to research and develop his machines.But in my opinion for what im doing i think it works well to relate to dance,movement and change in shape and form.

Initial Ideas So Far

Just by using clay and wire,this was the first thought that came into my head,a swirling sculpture,relating to ballet as I was doing it I thought of an image of a tree and how they gradually move an change shape,that's where the idea of using wire for the top of the tree and making it have loads of shape in it to create a sort of movement in the sculpture.

I then thought about how sculpture can be anything to materials traditional an non traditional techniques,to a performance and I thought of capturing movement in pictures
