SECTION ONE – Your Final Major Project (guide 150 words)
What is the title of your Project? What will you work towards producing and what is your proposed end point? Explain how this relates to your work and ideas from the Pathway Stage and how it extends your knowledge, understanding and creative ability.
My FMP is called "pop cult".This is focused on my research through the pathway stage from 1950s up to the 1970s relating to pop art, but keeping it modern for our generation in comparison to the fifties where pop art began.Ive chosen pop art as it feels like a positive art movement in the sixties and brought light hearted, fun and exiting art to the people and i'd like to bring that into my work.I will be working towards graphic merchandise for fashion and clothing design. I am hoping to extend my knowledge of different printing techniques, traditional and non-traditional.
SECTION TWO – Influences, Research, Sources and Ideas (guide 150 words)
What are the influences, starting points and contextual references and why are they relevant to your ideas? Indicate the subject areas you intend to research and the likely sources of information including any museums, specific locations, performances, etc you plan to visit. However you should not make extensive lists in this section. Instead you should compile an accurate bibliography correctly acknowledging all references including texts, periodicals, websites and video/DVD’s etc. Enter your bibliography in the APPENDIX .
My starting point is working on collages as a technique for my initial thought process. This is to show the colours, styles, decades of art movements I've looked into, including my illustrations, and figure drawing designs.Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney, Richard Hamilton and especially Roy Litchtenstein were all popular in the Pop art movement in the 1950s and 60s which developed from surrealism, i have took inspiration from them all in some way.Ana Strumpf customizes magazine covers such as Vogue in her own way, draws on models’ bodies,well-known faces of actors musicians etc, which took me back to Andy Warhol's celebrity pieces. Im also looking into different fashion designers who have been inspired by Roy Litchenstein, this inspired me to look into creating my own pop art designs keeping it my own by relating it to our generation in comparison to the Sixties.
SECTION THREE – Techniques, Processes and Timescale (guide 150 words)
Refer to any techniques and processes you intend to use. Describe the range of media and materials relevant to your project and how you may use them to explore and develop your ideas. Include aspects of studio practice, workshop procedures or the use of particular equipment and software etc. Provide an indicative timescale for your project and indicate the manner in which you intend to divide your time in order to investigate, develop, produce and evaluate your project appropriately. This should be a meaningful plan to you and should be personalised to your project. You may wish to write your plan as a daily or weekly schedule in which case enter your timescale in the APPENDIX .
I wish to use biro, felt tip, sharpie, ink, and paint for my illustrations and creating mixed media pieces including working with magazines. For working with fabrics and different materials, I am wanting to work with dye, wax and heat manipulation and also fabric pens and different non-traditional ways to print on fabric. Before hand, I will look into screen printing, designing onto fabric and different traditional and non traditional techniques. I am hoping my final piece will show that I want to bring art and fashion together as one by using my drawing skills onto my love of fashion and pop culture.
My weakness is working on photoshop and illustrator, but I am willing to keep working and practicing to produce some new, modern pop art inspired pieces and collages, also working with a graphics tablet to produce more detailed work on illustrator.
SECTION FOUR –  Method of Evaluation (guide 50 words)
How will you critically review and analyse your work and determine if it is successful? How will you identify directions for ongoing development? Do you have a method to record the critical response to your ideas? How do you propose to assess the success of your Final Major Project and what will be your methods of evaluation? Unit 9 requires you to produce a supporting statement at the end of your project. This section can inform your analysis.
On each piece of work I produce I will take notes down of all my thoughts, Including my strengths and weakness’, if it went wrong, if it went right and why. What needs to be done to make it successful. Also making sure i take photographs of my work, posting them onto blogger and social networks and get honest advice and opinions off friends, family and tutors of my work.
